Trades by the year they were made. Volume adds up the midpoints of the disclosed ranges, so it is an estimate. Trades disclosed in the last 30 days are not yet counted.

Did following Congress trades work?

Measured from the trade date, the 22,055 disclosed stock purchases that are at least a year old trailed the S&P 500 by an average of 0.4 percentage points over the next 12 months, and 43.2% of them beat the index. That is what the members’ own accounts got.

The public only sees a trade once it is disclosed. Measured from the disclosure date, the same purchases trailed the S&P 500 by an average of 0.8 percentage points, 0.4 percentage points less than from the trade date. The average is lifted by a few large winners; the median purchase trailed the S&P 500 by 4.6 percentage points.

Where this data comes from

Members of Congress report each trade over $1,000 in stocks, bonds and other securities, by themselves, their spouse or dependent children, in periodic transaction reports under the STOCK Act, filed with the House Clerk and the Senate. A trade must be reported within 45 days. Exent reads these public financial disclosures; every trade listed here links to its original filing.

Amounts are disclosed as ranges ($1,001–$15,000, $15,001–$50,000 and up), so dollar volumes are estimates from the midpoint of each range. Returns compare each disclosed purchase of a listed stock with the S&P 500 (SPY): total return with dividends from the close on the trade date to 3 and 12 months later, and again from the disclosure date, the first day the public could see the trade. Sales are not scored. The ranking covers members with at least 20 purchases that are a year old.

Trades disclosed in the last 30 days are counted but not listed; they are in Exent Radar, with the records of the top 10 performers. The disclosures carry no party labels: this is the public record of what was traded and when it was disclosed. Data as of Oct 20, 2026. How to read a filing yourself: Congress stock trading: how to see what members bought.

Past performance does not guarantee future results. Historical figures are calculated by Exent from market data and are for education only; they are not investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell any security.

Follow Congress trades as they are disclosed

  1. Exent Radar lists the trades members of Congress disclosed in the last 30 days (809 right now) and names the top 10 performers with their full records.
  2. Next to them: insider buying from SEC Form 4 filings and big‑fund moves from 13F filings, alongside the calls of Wall Street’s top‑rated analysts.
  3. Check any idea against your own portfolio before you act on it.

Frequently asked questions

In Exent's data as of Oct 20, 2026, the 22,055 disclosed stock purchases at least a year old trailed the S&P 500 by an average of 0.4 percentage points over the following 12 months, and 43.2% of them beat the index. The median purchase trailed the S&P 500 by 4.6 percentage points. Measured from the disclosure date, when the public could first see each trade, they trailed the S&P 500 by an average of 0.8 percentage points.

In Exent's ranking of the 111 members with at least 20 scored stock purchases, the top-ranked member's purchases beat the S&P 500 by an average of 38.2 percentage points over 12 months. The names and full records of the top 10 are in Exent Radar (exent.ai/radar); ranks 11 and below are named at exent.ai/congress.

The STOCK Act requires a periodic transaction report within 45 days of a trade. In Exent's data, 14.9% of trades were disclosed later than that, and the median trade was disclosed 28 days after it was made.

By number of disclosed purchases in 2026 so far: MSFT (26 buys by 13 members), HUBB (18 buys by 3 members), SPGI (18 buys by 4 members), CHRW (18 buys by 2 members), DASH (16 buys by 2 members). The most sold: TKNO (29 sales), NVDA (23 sales), MSFT (20 sales).

Ro Khanna disclosed the most trades in Exent's data: 12,771, 11,907 of them in individual stocks.
